I locked myself up for six weeks and I regret it. I believed everything everyone else said and regret it. Go out get some air, relax and enjoy yourself. It's hard being a new mom and you need the fresh air and contact with other adults. Keep baby covered and don't let anyone who hasn't washed their hands touch him. Ofcourse you must be ready to leave if baby gets too fussy, but at two weeks all they do is sleep so I wouldn't worry too much. Congratulations and have fun!

I would say no!!!! for1 I feel the baby is too young2b around all those ppl and all those germs. My pedi said that babies younger than 2months (when they get their 1st shots) shouldnt be in crowded places. They can go outside but not around tons of ppl. 2) what if the air condition is turned up really high? Good luck with any1 having simpathy when you ask the manager2turn the air down ppl are gonna say you shouldve never brought a young baby. 3) the fact that you are even stressing it after the doc said a similar situation would be ok makes me think you are not 100% about doing it either, so you know what will happ if you go? you will stress the whole time if they are warm enough, wondering what that person snezzing at the next table has, and when you go home you will think about it2. So just make it easy on your nerves and wait a little bit. I know exactly what your are going through I have a newborn myself 7weeks. congrats on the new baby!!!!

I have always known about those chemicals, that is why I use Avalon organics shampoo/bodywash and lotions, diaper rash creams on my baby. I have also used live clean and burts bees. They all smell so nice!! These are all natural and safe for your baby :) It is a few dollars more than the other chemical stuff but you don't use very much. My baby is 8 months old and I am on my second bottle already and she has a ton of hair :) *mommy of five- those are all chemicals!!!

Given the fact that I had packers in my home when my daughter was 10 days old, and then we moved 350 miles to a new home when she was 14 days old and b/c the Army lost our stuff I had to venture to a laundry mat (eee gads) w/ my baby at a mere 18 days old...I'd say everyone suggesting you stay locked in your house is bit ridiculous!
If you feel comfortable taking him out...go for it! I would of course use common sense and caution and not let him be handled too much, but for the most part...if you're good with it-do it!

I had planned to keep my daughter in and away from people as much as possible at first, but honestly I thought I'd go crazy. My husband went back to work the day after she came home from the hospital, and I was at home with her all day alone. I NEEDED to get out of the house and be around other people some. We started taking her out on short trips when she was about a week old - run to the grocery store, post office, whatever. At 2 weeks we took her to a restaurant so that I could go out for my birthday. I think the risk of you going absolutely insane locked up in the house is much higher than the risk of the baby getting sick. As long as he is healthy, I wouldn't worry about it, especially if he is breastfeeding. Just don't let other people touch him and keep a close eye to his cues that he might be ready to go home.
You may also want to sit in the back of the restaurant, away from all the traffic. When we took my daughter out to eat at 2 wks old, they sat us in a busy part of the restaurant, and I was afraid another customer was going to trip over her or a waiter would come around the corner and spill a hot plate on her. Kind of hard to enjoy myself when I was so worried the whole time!

I took my baby out at 3 days old to a restaurant, just dont let people get too close cause of germs and stuff and if they still dont listen to you, tell them to back off a child has a lower immune system than what we do and that you don't know who that person has been in contact with.

Restaurants are actually one of the worst places you can go according to my pedi. You have anywhere from 50 to 100 people crammed into a single room for an hour at a time. All the time sneezing, coughing, and breathing out all their germs.
Going out on limited outings is okay, however avoid passing him around, and stick to open areas without crowds.

my hubby was gone and I had to go to the store the day after i got home. He was 2 days old and after that we just kept going out. He never got sick at all. Though some babies have immune systems that arent as good i guess.

I waited til my son was about 4 weeks old before I took him out. If the doctor says its ok then it is I would think. If you feel comfrotable taking him then do it.

if the doc says ok, then it should be fine. we waited until our daughter was 6 weeks before she left the house! i would be careful in letting your friends handle him too much, he is stil very young and can easily catch anything!! good luck!
