I don't see them making the playoffs because that division is just too hard for them, but then again last year no team was really that amazing int he east. The Giants were good at the beginning but they started to play really badly towards the end and ended with a 9-7 record. I still see them as a better team than the Redskins (and I think the Cowboys will also be up there). The Eagles will also put up a fight no doubt. But, anything is possible (just look at the Saints and Jets last year), thats whats great about the NFL.

I grew up in Northern Virginia and have been a Redskins fan all my life ( a whole lotta years). If I were to compare this team with playoff teams of the past, I will not get very excited about their chances this year. They have a young quarterback who is still developing and, last year at least, had much trouble reading defenses. Their defensive line is mediocre at best. Punter and place kicker mediocre. A lot of talent in the defensive secondary which they will overuse due to the lack of pass rush. My hope is that they run the ball 50+ times a game and control the clock to the max to keep the defense off the field. You never know about the game but me believes that 8-8 would be a good season.

Here's their schedule:

Sun, Sep 9 Miami
Mon, Sep 17 at Philadelphia
Sun, Sep 23 NY Giants
BYE WEEK
Sun, Oct 7 Detroit
Sun, Oct 14 at Green Bay
Sun, Oct 21 Arizona
Sun, Oct 28 at New England - ouch
Sun, Nov 4 at NY Jets
Sun, Nov 11 Philadelphia
Sun, Nov 18 at Dallas
Sun, Nov 25 at Tampa Bay
Sun, Dec 2 Buffalo
Thu, Dec 6 Chicago
Sun, Dec 16 at NY Giants
Sun, Dec 23 at Minnesota
Sun, Dec 30 Dallas

They could fare well against NFC Central and AFC East teams (except for Chicago and New England). Although they were 1-5 in their own division last season, they were 5-1 in their division the year before, so there's reason to believe a turnaround is possible.

They should have a better-flowing offense now that Jason Campbell has some experience, but the loss of OG Derrick Dockery might slow down what could be a potent offense. The Skins' defense has good starters, but not much depth. And they still don't have much of a pass rush from their D-line. Free agent signees London Fletcher, Fred Smoot and David Macklin should help out the defense, but not the pass rush.

Given their schedule, 7-9 is my guess (although they could go as high as 9-7, or as low as 5-11.)

by revamping the D and having campbell continue to improve ,not to mention our players like portis will be back ,they will be back in the playoffs like they were the year before last ,they had alot of injuries last year which alot of people like to forget and despite that still was able to play teams close despite the D struggling they even split with the cowboys so look out gibbs will turn the team around ,let people talk their smack and when its all said and done you will hear HAIL TO THE REDSKINS played alot on sundays this year GO SKINS!

david -

I'm a Redskin fan of some duration. I was an usher for their games for a while and loved being there. I'm "hoping" for a 9-7 season. We'll see! Good question. Thanks.

Allow me to answer this....CORRECTLY.

1st off, the Giants ended up 8-8. Get your facts straight. Thats because they had 11 players go down to injury, 7 of em starters.

To answer your question, they will end up in the cellar. An injury prone RB, No QB, an average D with no LB corps, and headcase named Shawn Taylor.
