Hello, This may help. We are in our late 50's & have been to St. Georges South which, whilst nice is a bit off the beaten track so transport needed to see more of the island. We hired a scooter which was fun. Last year we stayed in Kalami (near Kassiopi) and I can recommend both places as they are quiet & picturesque with lovely bars/restaurants & beaches. Some lovely sea trips from Kassiopi. Having had a good look around we are going to Roda in September (staying at Afrodite Hotel right opposite the beach) as it is lovely, plenty of shops, bars, restaurants & a terrific beach. It is fairly flat so good for me as I use a walking stick. Kalami is very hilly so if either of you have walking difficulties would not recommend this. I managed last year but with some discomfort. People are fantastic & make you feel really welcome.
If this is you're first time to a Greek Island you must try authentic Greek food, it's to die for and you can recognise what you are eating. I bet you go back again for more.
We usually go to Zante in May which, again, is a fantastic island, and Corfu in September. Pure heaven.
Good luck& have a great time.

If your legs are ok try Paleokastritsa,I've been there a couple of times but nobody seems to have heard of it.It is in Kosmar brochure though, available at First Choice. The area around the (3) beaches is pretty flat and you will find everything you need there,it's only when you venture a bit further the going can get a bit tougher. The main beach is lovely and the monastery on the hill is worth a visit with fantastic views back onto the resort.Check out Horizon restaurant if you go.In my opinion the brochure definitely sells itself short
Having praised up Corfu,if you are into scenery in a big way you should try Santorini or Ios.All those typical pictures of Greece seem to be taken there

North of the island, but avoid Ipsos and possibly Gouvia. Barbati and Agios Stephanos very nice. West coast fine but isolated. South of Corfu Town only consider Benitses, it's a lot quieter than it used to be. If you could do a ferry trip then Paxos would be good. There is also a daily seaplane service from Gouvia (AirSea Lines). If you want to be near Corfu town try the Kerkyra Golf hotel just north of the town. Not itself very scenic, but central for access all areas and nice hotel.

I'm assuming you might want to avoid the big Tourist Centres and nightclub areas. There are some fairly quiet resorts just along the coast road North of Corfu town.

Would recommend the Kontokali Bay Hotel - nice hotel with private(ish) Beach - a 10 minute walk to the small town centre - but plenty of taxi's to there and other nearby towns.

I would go to Kefalonia instead of Corfu...
Check this out: http://kefalonia.foi.org.uk/

It belongs to the same group of islands (Ionian), yet it is quieter with more quality for your money overall...

Other nice and quiet places can be found in
1. Patmos (dodecanese), http://www.patmos.com/
2. Naxos (cyclades), http://www.naxos-greece.net/

As a general advice, choose places off the beaten track and you will never regret it.

Have a nice time in Greece!
