He is just one guy. He is not going to bring that big of a change to the Yankees. Baseball is not a one man sport. I can't figure out why so many Yanks fans believe Clemens will solve it all!

Jersey Joe: I'm not just a Cards fan, I'm a baseball fan. I like to discuss all baseball teams, not just the Cards. Also, I think the Cards are in better shape than the Yanks. The Cards play in a much weaker division. They are 2nd in central and Mulder will be returning soon. Also, Carpenter is expected to be back in August. Until then, the Cards are starting to get it together. Albert has had 3 homers in the last 4 games. Edmonds is hitting a lot better. The offensive seems to finally be clicking. Now if only they could figure out Kip Wells.

Most Yankee fans are delusional and view a playoff berth as an entitlement. While it is true that Clemens helped the Astros make the playoffs the past couple of years, the Yankees look old (Damon) or completely ineffective (Abreu, the entire bullpen).

Forget catching the Red Sox. As I type this, the Yankees are behind seven teams in the wild-card chase. That number is just too many to catch.

Be thankful you don't live in a New York media market like me. All sports radio hosts propose Yankee trades and call the other team hopelessly out of contention while the Yankees still have a shot.

First of all for everyone thats downing the Cardinals you can stop now we are just 5 games out of first place and the the whole team is clicking besides Kip Wells of course. Roger Clemens isn't gonna help the Yankees much at all. Lets see the have 105 games left in they season you divide that number by 5 cause thats about the number between starts for Clemens and it comes out to about 21 starts for Clemens before the year is over that is if he can stay healthy and i don't think he will. He will be very limited on his starts and i say he will have 11 to 14 starts and only 4 of them will be half good. I think Clemens will get 5 to 7 wins for the Yankees and look they are 10.5 back so Roger Clemens will not solve any of the Yankees prob and think god im tired of seeing the damn Yankee in the postseason they almost always make it but NOT THIS YEAR YANKEES.

When he made the announcement he was coming back, they were only 5 1/2 games out. You bring in Roger Clemens to pitch instead of guy from Triple-A, you can make up 5 and 1/2 games.

And from what I hear, Roger Clemens is a good teammate and can help these guys out 'mentally' I guess you could say.

I really wouldn't count the Yankees out yet, remember 1978?
It's still possible, a couple of Red Sox could get injured, or they go into a slump - and the Yankees start playing as good as the Red Sox have so far, the Yankees could pull within just a couple of games. There's still enough ball games in the season for it to happen.

Clemens is just one piece of the puzzle. His presence in the clubhouse will help bring about the winning attitude that they need right now. But I think Yankee fans would be optimistic of a turnaround without Roger. We feel most everyone on the team has underachieved and that this will change dramatically in the near future. It's hard to be a Yankee fan and not believe that the team will get on track and win the division. We've seen it so many times before and we like it.

Not all Yankees fans think that. I'm a Yankees fan and I know Clemens can't be the answer to all of our problems. I do however hope that every 5 days he goes out their pitches well for us and gets us a win. That's all I can hope from him. The rest of the team has to pick it up and start winning, which they have been doing as of late. I hope they keep it up.

Because it's about the only thing that Yankees fans have to be optimistic about. Clemens is only going to give you a good 6 innings per outing, maybe 7. Their bullpen is a pile of crap this year, so it's not like they will be able to close out a lot of the games he pitches. He will not answer all of the problems, but he will probably give them a boost of confidence.

I live in Houston, played against his kids in High School, and have seen him around town. I have played baseball my whole life and know a lot about the game, and he will not be the answer. The last two seasons he fell apart for my astros at the end of the season, and he will do the same again this year. He's one of the best thats ever played, but his body is shutting down. But he's the rocket, there may be more gas left in those boosters then we all think

Those yankee fans were thinking they were going to be "in contention" around this time (which they're not.) I bet you that all those that were thinking Clemens was going to put them over the top are not thinking that anymore. They pretty much know the Yankees are too far back... or will be soon.

Well don't lump all Yankees fans into that assumption. I think the Yankees ball club may have wasted a lot of money on a guy that is going to spend half the season not playing.....and i'm a die hard Yanks fan. So trust me, we don't all think that he's the answer......my answer is.....It's not October yet!!!
