I lived in ethiopia for 2 years, and the ethiopians thought of me as a "forengi" just like they did white americans. So I think it's a bit delusional for black americans to consider themselves africans.

Well, people can call themselves whatever they want. I say African American & Black 'cuz it's convenient. I know people hate lables, but that's an aspect of communication. I don't call myself African, because I wasn't born there. In international settings, I call myself American.

I'm not African. I don't consider myself African and I don't want other people labeling me as African. I am American. Not African-American just American.

I suppose....if they wanted to. You can call yourself anything you'd like; it doesn't mean that that's what you are.
I am an American. I was not born in Africa. I've never been to Africa. Probably will never *go* to Africa. I know my ancestors came from there, but that's about the extent of my connection.

I don't. I prefer black personally. Why label? You can label yourself anything you want to. The bottom line is.....who you are as a person.
