Have a 55 gal with 9 bronze cory cats, 5 zebra danios, 3 glass catfish and 1 asian striped catfish. What are some fish I can add to add color? Tried male guppies and the glass cats attacked and ate their tails...but they hadn't been eating and are now eating well. The zebras were nipping the guppies also. Going to be getting a Penguin 350 and a Fluval 305 tonight so should have good filtration. Since I am taking the old filter out and adding two unestablished ones should I wait to add more fish? Cant run two HOB filters because its acrylic and not enough of an opening. Planning on seeding the new filters. Would love to see some color in my tanks soon. Thanks for any help

I'd add a trio of gourami (come in a variety of colors, get 1 male and 2 females). Or bolivian rams. If you want smaller fish I'd get a school of cardinal tetras, you can't beat them for vibrant color. Rosy barbs are also pretty. You really have a lot of choices.

As far as the filters go, I'd leave the old HOB on while establishing the Fluval, then in a month or so switch out the old HOB for the penguin, seeding that with media. That should preserve most of your bacteria. You should have a good bit of bacteria on your decorations and gravel too. I'd wait a couple of weeks before getting more fish if you do switch out the old filter and put 2 new ones on at once.

A school of danio-sized tetras would add lots of color to the tank. Not Neon Tetras, because they are most likely going to be eaten by the bigger mouths. Bleeding Heart, Lemon Tetras, and those types would be good.

Here's a Petsmart page for Fluval Filter Media-http://www.petsmart.com/global/search/search_results.jsp

A nice school of colorful tetras like lemons, bleeding hearts, flames etc would add some color. Gold barbs would work well or if you want color at the top of the tank a few killifish would be great.

Angels should be kept in even groups, so in your tank I would only have 2. Pictus cats require 70+ gallons, so one will not fit into your tank. The glofish will eventually get eaten by the angels, so no. Platys would overall be ok with angels, but should be kept in groups of 6 or more. Gouramis like angels should be in even groups, so at least 2.
