Primates give birth to fully devoloped young.
Cetaceans (whales) give birth to fully devoloped young.
Marsupials give birth to under developed young that finish developing in a pouch.

Monotremes lay eggs. In that way, they resemble reptiles.

The question is invalid. The monotremes may lay eggs, but that does not make them " closer " to reptiles. Proto-mammals, including monotremes, diverged from reptiles at the same time. Evolutionary progress is not linear, but more like a bush. Populations evolve, not individuals and the population of mammals is evolving together now; though the rate may vary, it is incoherent to say that monotremes are closer to reptiles than the other groups of mammals.
