I`m open minded. Let`s hear it all...This immigration situation seemingly exposes Washington`s propensity to be underhanded, bought, and corrupt...But that`s just what I think.....What do you think ?

I can't speak to the nation as a whole but with cofidence and experience I can say in all honesty both of my senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMInt (from SC) are clearly acting in the best interest of their campaign contributors and party leaders.

Their votes have directly led to the closures of many of our regional manufacturing plants, caused a great deal of increased financial hardship, had drastic negative impact on both regional healthcare and educational institutions, directly opposed the will of their constituents, and furthered the flames of intolerance in my already intolerant area.

But given their pasts, it's not really all that surprising.

My Senators are Dick Turbin and Osama Obama (that's what Ted Kennedy called him). Not only do they not act on my behalf they do not act on behalf of the constitution or the betterment of the United States of America.

It seems like your question is more specific and wants a reply dealing with the current immigration situation. The Republican party tried to have an amendment in the immigration bill that would limit citizenship to people that were not fellons and my representatives voted against it. People can disagree about a lot of political issues though when your Senators fight to allow fellons to become citizens they aren't putting me, you or American above their own personal interests.

I thought they were elected to end the war - that's what was claimed by the media when it happened. So far, they've funded the war two or three times, and now the immigration bill, which is opposed by 75% of Americans, looks very much like a sellout to the special interests. But I wouldn't exempt the House, or the Executive branch, for that matter - they are also supporting unpopular, foolish legislation that favors corporations over the citizenry.

I think you're right on target. If you put the whole bunch of them in a tote sack, shook the thing up & dumped it out, they would all look alike. When they fixed their salary situation as to where their raise would be automatic if it wasnt even brought up, thats when I decided they're a bunch of crooks, however, since I can't get anyone to listen to me when I preach about my newest brainchild...................'The Common Sense Party'
where there would be no lawyers, drs, etc. then I guess we have to accept the currrent situation, and that is being lied to, and overtaxed. Life would be pretty good for me if 25-30% of my wages didnt go to help fund whatever silly idea they have up there. Repub. & Dem alike. All worthless.
When Kerry ran for president & in one of the debates, he says: 'if I'm elected president, every man woman & child in the United States will have the same health care as we senators, I knew that was bogus.

LOL, that is a funny question. Are any politicians acting on our behalves anymore? Or just pushing the agenda that they think will get them elected and thus secure the retirement plan that the senate and house enjoy? I think that the BEST politician is probably running about 40% people, 60% agenda; and I can guarantee you that there are very few 40%'ers out there.

I agree with your assessment. I traded letters with Senator Specter, even before this immigration bill surfaced. I advocated border security. He would not change his opinion that a comprehensive bill was needed and, as he wrote, "...something has to be done..." about the illegals.
Despite my major effort, Senator Specter helped put this cockamamie immigration bill together. I don't contribute to his campaign. I wonder who all does.

Of course they do not act on our behalf! if they acted according to the wishes of the people, then they would not be trying to ram amnesty down our throats. an overwhelming majority of americans are against this bill and are staunchly opposed to ILLEGAL immigration.

When will you voters wise up and stop voting over and over for the same politicians who feel no obligation to uphold your wishes? This applies to Republicans AND Democrats. Remember?....the border fence was going to be built and we were going to get our troops out of Iraq? You, as an American Citizen, are owed NOTHING by “our Leaders.” In their eyes, you as a Voting Citizen are only there to be manipulated and used by them.

The idea of Government for the People is passe’ and out of date with these professional politicians. How can you Citizens, as voters, be so STUPID to keep re-electing them!

The "Leadership" you've voted in made all those promises, but yet after they won their elections, they've given you the middle finger! You've all been lied to. What has the Democrat "Leadership" done for you?...Nothing but empty promises!...And George Bush making agreements with Canada and Mexico to have open borders, and not pushing for border control...Bush should be kicked out of office!

Senator Ted Kennedy said that all who don't agree to amnesty for illegals are bigots. Do you believe that? I don't believe it, and I'm a brown skinned person with a Hispanic last name, but an American first!

The Mexicans pouring across the border now aren't here for our benefit, but to simply take the wealth from us. They owe their loyality to Mexico, not the United States.

Food for thought: From the pages of GrassRootsUSA....

Did you hear what Senator Ted Kennedy said a few days ago about
you and others who oppose Amnesty for illegals?

"We hope that the voices of hatred and bigotry will silence
themselves for this debate..."

In other words... if you believe that 12-20 million people who
violated our laws by sneaking across our border illegally should
not be rewarded with a path to citizenship... Kennedy basically
told YOU to sit down and shut up.

In other words... if you're frustrated by the fact that
politicians in Washington won't enforce our laws and secure the
border, you're a BIGOT!

In other words... if you believe that our laws should be
respected... you're a HATER!

Based on past and present legislation, I'd have to say that they are acting on behalf of the illegal immigrants and any other minority group that screams load enough.
