That's silly GOP princess. I only hold strong feelings for people in real life. This is just a place to discuss ideas.

If what they're seeking is "clean and proper" discussions concerning politics, then I think it's a waste a time.

If you're talking about controlling a mindless troll who's posting insults and stupidity all over the place then this will work.

But if you're going to punish me for calling someone a moron, when they're being a moron, then this will be misused. It will be used to punish. I like it when people are passionate about a subject. Sometimes people fire back at each other because they feel strongly about the subject. Then when you do, it's like you have a bunch of vultures hovering over you ready to pounce. I think this will punish interesting people. All you'll be left with is the Homework crowd asking you how many senators there are.

go to the forum,it is already being discussed. if so many users block you, yahoo will investigate your account. may sound good, but think about it. i have seen people complain about a false violation report, just to get their points back. yahoo overturned and then investigated the users account that was violated. the one that was falsely reported against ended up losing their account.
edit,it won't block troll posts,so it really isn't a troll blocker. we will still have to see the troll posts. yahoo needs to define trolls for some users. trolls usually don't go into your account and usually don't report. they are just here to disrupt the boards and get a reaction from others.

is there finally a block user feature. woohoo. How can it be misused? Its not like you block that person from the forum all together, you just block them from you. I only think it will enhance the experience and get rid of the trolls.

It appears to me that people you block will still be able to see all the current questions & answers, they just won't be able to go to your profile and pull up all the Q&A you've done, thus enabling them to go thru them for the sole purpose of reporting you ad infinitum. From what I read, they will still be able to see questions you post and answer them, but they will not be able to contact you otherwise. But, I could be wrong--this is just my interpetation.

Edit: As far as the account suspension for a number of blocks, that is one part that could be misused--however the one ray of hope is that they will be "investigated" first--although what criteria they will use for termination is unknown.

Well I for one am tired of some of the troll questions. I think if you ask for people's opinions, then you invite what they say. Blocking their statements, no matter how foolish, is disingenuous.

Added for citizenjane:

Tiz a poorly designed system to have allowed them to go that far.

The trolls are the ones misusing the service. It's about time YA added this feature.

I have not heard of this......Any links ?..If it is like "igging" someone, I think it will be great ! Those that cannot tolerate their opponents (libs) will more often than not, opt to escape a mighty foe`s wrath.....I think It would be good for YA in that case. People that cannot stand the heat should get out of the kitchen.....

....If your details are correct, YA will not make it...Too bad for their advertisers.

No, it won't ruin anything.

I'm assuming it'll be like the "ignore" feature from the old news message boards.

The people who block people because of their non-trollish statements are probably trolls themselves.

I am glad to see it. It keeps angry people from going to your info page and going through your questions and answers and reporting you on every one. Hooray! Yahoo, it is about time!
