Just to make this clear, I do not believe we evolved from monkeys.

WE DIDNT EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS, STOP THIS CRAP.
HUMANS DONT EVOLVE, WE ARE WHAT WE WERE HUNDREDS OF YEARS BEFORE.

GOD CREATED US, ITS GOD NOT A COMMON ANCESTOR

I think it is necessary to read and see the evidence. That is what this question is about. The asker points out a good fact, even though the main point may be incorrect to people who believe speciation occurs through evolution,ie, we "evolved from apes not monkeys". So, where is the evidence?

You say there are some bones found that meet this criteria, such as....Lucy, whose bones look like an ape that could stand up right. This is not a human ancestor, as it can be disputed that all of the skulls and bones that were supposedly in the line of human descendants could just be apes.

I am very familiar with those arguments, have studied them, have seen pictures of the bones and I am not convinced.

These are not facts but theories that are up to each individual to assess and decide if they want to take a leap of faith and believe these ape bones are human or that they are just ape bones.

Theories are meant to be disputed and disproved.

We do find skeletons of apelike creatures which don't match anything alive today. Things like Neanderthals, Cro-Magnon man, Australopithicus, etc. All of these species are sort of "in-between" modern apes and modern humans and are more or less what you're referring to.

Incidentally, people didn't evolve from monkeys like the monkeys you see in the zoo. The first primates were the ancestors of humans, apes and monkeys. We all evolved, not from each other, but from a common ancestor. If species were individuals, you could say that some people think apes are the "fathers" of humans, but they're actually "brothers". The "father" is the original ape we both evolved from, which is now extinct.

Well since humans did not evolve from monkeys, why would you expect people to find half monkey-half human skeletons? Humans and monkeys evolved from a common ape-like ancestor millions of years ago.

If you've ever heard of "Lucy", then you've heard of a transitional skeleton. Lucy is an Australopithecus afarensis, a species between the common ancestor and humans. Others include Gigantopithecus, Orrorin, Ardipithecus, Kenyanthropus, and Paranthropus. Look up ancient hominids and read up on them. They're the closest you're going to get to a half-monkey half-human.

Because George Bush is still alive, but that's another matter.

Humans evolved from apes, not monkeys. In fact, humans are just another species of ape. Apes differ from monkeys in terms of size and several other ways, the most obvious being the lack of a tail.

If one is disciplined enough to strudy palentology then one realizes the human fossil record is rather complete. The line which lead to humans is less than 10 million years old and one finds the bones of creatures which are very ape like. Younger fossils consist of animals which the skulls of chimpansees but the upright body of a human. Past this point the brain increases in size, the face flattens and the jaws grows smaller. The youngest fossils are modern looking human skulls with big brains, full foreheads and pointed noses.

You must understand that the process evolution is a slow one.
While it is true that we evolved from monkeys( roughly speaking), you must also consider this question - " If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys around?".
So the answer to your question is that in the evolution of man there are different stages- cro-magnon, ramapithecus, austrolopithecus( i might have got the order wrong) .... homo erectus, homo sapiens( which is the present us). These stages can, in a crude sense, be termed as half human and half monkey.

We do! But it never works as half this and half that. Its transient over million of years. And don't forget: we do not descend from the monkeys but from a common ancestor with the monkeys. Monkeys have evolved from that common ancestor too into...monkeys... and us into humans. 97% of our genome is the same and yet we pay so much attention to the 3% that is different.

Because evolution does not work that way. It was not an overnight change. It is something that took place over generations and generations of apes. By the way, we did not evolve from monkeys. We share a similiar ancestor. Monkeys evolved down one path and humans evolved down another path.

The "no transitional forms" argument has been used by creationists for a while, even though it has been repeatedly disproved.

First off: humans did not evolve from modern apes. They had a common ancestor, so are members of the same phylogenic tree.

Second: There are numerous examples of human ancestors that have been found all over the world, from homo habilis to homo erectus to homo sapien.

Third: The split between the hominid and chimpanzee trees appears to have occurred about 5 million years ago, around the time of ardipithecus ramidus.

This is a common misconception. Humans haven't evolved from monkeys; they share their most recent common ancestor with them (particularly chimps). We have fossils supporting a common ancestor that have the shared characteristics of humans and chimps. We also have fossils of extinct species of hominids and monkeys that help us understand how these lineages have evolved and changed through time.

First, we did not evolve from monkeys. We are apes and have common ancestry with modern apes. You obviously know nothing of the proto- Homo and Homo evolutionary progression. Look at a skull of Proconsul and then make your spurious claims.

PS Just to make this clear. The truth does not care what you believe and something may be true, whether you believe it or not.
