Never! There is nothing more important than the birth os a child. It is a precious moment that you can never get back. If they missed it for some stupid trivial reason, than they obviously have no idea of what is important in life and aren't worth wasting any more time on.
My partner was not only present for the birth of both of our chidren, he also went to every singel doctor's appointment with me, including the ones where I was just getting a pregnancy test! I will never forget that, ever!
