It comes from the Dune books. It is what Paul Atreides chose to call himself. It was the fremen name for a little mouse of the desert as well as the image from one of Arrakis' moons.

Muad'Dib -- "the adapted kangaroo mouse of Arrakis, a creature associated in the Fremen earth-spirit mythology with a design visible on the planet's second moon. The creature is admired by Fremen for it's ability to survive in the open desert"

Muad D'ib was the fremen name for a small desert rodent who was wise in the ways of the desert. The concept was the same as "The Mouse that Roared".
