Yes, it makes a difference.
The difference being the motivation. Are you twisting to be different from the non twisters. Maybe they don't want to twist to be different from the twisters.
Is twisting a fad, then that makes you a follower.
Now if you are naturally a twisted individual, then, hey you cant help it anyway, so why care.
