I'll go with Steve Nash, but not because everybody says so. Nash can pass at any point and at any position in the air.
Nobody is really giving props to Jason Kidd. The man is a present-day Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson. If he had truly great players on his team, he would be a champion right now and everybody would be singing his praises.
Deron Williams really impressed me in the playoffs.
AI is amazing, but to be the best ball handler, I say you need to have low turnovers, and AI is turnover prone.

I'd Chris Paul. Allen Iverson is an overrated handler because of his crossover. Nash actually lead all point guards in turnovers. Some underrated handlers would be Eric Snow, Carlos Arroyo, and Chris Duhon.

someone made a good point about the difference between one on one and overall team basketball playing.

Everyone says Nash, but I think they're just enamoured with the Suns as a whole. I think if you're thinking as a point guard, someone to run the offense for you, I have to like Kidd over Nash. Someone said Nash had low TOs but his TOs are horrendous. Yes he has high assists but a lot of that has to do with the amazing talent that he has around him (Amare, The Matrix, the brazilian blur) and the offensive scheme that D'Antioni writes up. If Kidd had the same talent, and not just Carter and a few other scrubs, Kidd would be looked at as one of the greatest PG of all time. He IS mr. triple-double after all.

As for one-on-one, I like AI or Parker. They both have great skills (Parker's TOs have gone down this year), good control of the ball, and (at least while AI was younger), great speed.

for me, it's steve nash, man what separates this guard from the others is the way he sees the floor, he makes good choices on what to do with the ball, he also has good footwork even if he is not the most athletic guy, he is for me the best ball handler/dribbler,pure point guard in the nba

Take from an irrate Laker fan, STEVE NASH. First of all, Nash goes left as well as he goes right. I saw him change hands dribbling 5 times in one play while hitting Marion on an alley-oop. Secondly he is the best at dribbling in traffic. He keeps his dribble so low, players are constantly kicking rather than swiping at the ball. Lastly, Nash changes the pace of his dribble similarly to a veteran pitcher changing speeds.

I'd have to go with Steve Nash, though there are alot of good ballhandlers (Chris Paul, Allen Iverson, Derron Williams, T.J. Ford, Tony Parker, Jason Kidd)

My top 3 choice's are Steve Nash,Tony Parker,Allen Iverson But the best is Steve Nash hands down. The reason is he is faster than most players. He can dribble right past bigger defenders and cross out small defenders. he has the best handles magic Johnson so I think he is the best dribbler.

Thats a tough one many players may have great one one ball handling skills but is it always effective. Also just because you can always break your man off with the dribble does it matter if you dont finish the play with a basket or make the assist to finish play. I dont think so.

Best one on one dribbler - Allen Iverson
Most effective Dribbler - Steve Nash
