Well, the reason why I like anime so much and might be the reason why others like it as well is because....

*Way better drawing than American cartoon
*Better storyline
*Are not sensored out (like homosexuality, partial nudity, and other things that American shows will not show.)
*Anime can be watch by all types of ages, while American cartoon are normally for children.
*Anime has a crap load of genres, while American are normally action or just fairy tales stuff with a bit of action.
*Anime series eventually end after like 26-51 episodes, while American just go on and on about the same thing. (Well, there are anime like that but not too many.)
*Anime normally have some type of comedy in it, while American's just try to make their cartoon cool.

And my top reason is....
The anime characters are hot :)
especially the guys they draw, it's funner to watch an anime when the characters are attractive. And I knew I am not alone in this because people would spend $10 for a new movie just to watch Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp act.

1. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (or Hantsuki for short!) 2. Princess TuTu 3. Full Moon o Sagashite (sort of, at least no one I know has seen/read it) 4. Sailor Moon! (I know that EVERYBODY knows of this. EVERYBODY. but when's the last time YOU watched it? =3) 5. Time Stranger Kyoko. (actually, I'm not sure if it's been made into an anime! but I have the manga, it was amazing!) edit: ...btw...if anyone else says the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is underrated, don't listen, because it's extremely popular. I was at a really little anime convention, and 5 people were dressed up as her. =3 =3 I'm going as her this year!

Because there is so much of it out there now. It is probably easier for companies to bring over Japanese cartoons. People here enjoy them because they are different from American cartoons. They are not only mature, but usually have an ending vs. American cartoons that end when the ratings go down. A lot of kids who used to watch Pokemon or DBZ or Sailor Moon or any of the newer stuff are growing up watching more of it.

to me they are just like videogames

i mean why do people play video games especially role playing games?

because unlike movies, RPGs and Anime get very detailed with the stories and they dont leave anything unopened. it seems every anime never leaves something out accidentally.

compare anime to todays cartoons in the USA, there are a ton of plot holes compared anime and the drawings are usually much better in anime.

also if gives you that fantasy alot of us dream about, you know being the hero, saving the girl, saving the world, pushing your body and mind to the limits, vengence. it has it all

i mean who wouldnt want some super being taking you underground to do some training in 3 days, the same training that usualy takes the average character 10 years to accomplish

anime just plain rocks!

especially my favs(fighting spirit, dragon ball z, trinity blood, gun sword, tsubasa, basilisk, and bleach!")

To me, it's not even the fact that it's anime. Even if it weren't, anime is just better than American cartoons. Plain and simple, done and done.
