I do not diet or starve myself, I barely excercise I know I need to lose a lot of wieght but i'm not going to diet until I no longer breastfeed my son who is almost 9 months. I've lost 6lbs. in one week, out of the blue, and it's recommended I lose no more than two a week, in everything i've read, becuase of the risk of toxins stored in my fat, I spoke to my doctor about and she practically laughed it off saying that was dumb.
I'd like to know if any other women have lost wieght while breastfeeding and it in fact, posed a moderate health risk to their child? I want to know whether or not I should actually worry.

If you lost 6 lbs in a week out of the blue, its water weight. A pound of fat = 3500 calories.... its almsot impossible to lose that much real fat in a week becuase that's 21,000 calories! If you're not working out, you wouldn't have that big of a deficit between what you eat and what you're using.

Don't worry!

You lose lots of weight during breastfeeding. yeah, dont starve while breatfeeding either. eat as often as you need to (or have the time for =)) and drink plenty of water. i lost i'd say 10 lbs the first week and now at 7 months of breastfeeding im only 5 lbs away from prepreg weight
Every women is different, therefore loses/gains whatever differently

Check out "Eat Well, Lose Weight While Breastfeeding" by Eileen Behan. Losing weight while nursing can be just fine, when done correctly.

Also, Weight Watchers "points" program has a structure for nursing moms that I found to be a good one.

Good luck.

I 'm nursing my baby too.It easier to loose weight when you breastfeeding than when you don't,but that not mean that you can't do diet . You don't have to starve yourself ,just eat healthy and not exaggerate it's enough .You aren't pregnant anymore ,just eat moderate and a little bit of walking your baby around the block in a stroller won't hurt either.

breast feeding is the best way to get your figure back. I'd say if you continue to lose that much weight next week then have it checked again. but most likely it was water weight.
