Okay, I am so not near being overweight, but I want to lose a little because I hate my upper arms and also I have a little bit of belly fat (but barely enough to pinch.) I think that five pounds would be good and I would look healthy and thin and after I lose those pounds I want to gain a little muscle mass. Oh, I am 110 lbs. (I play soccer and I have really awesome looking muscular legs), am 5'3, and of course, I am a girl.

Light weight lifting (less weight, more reps) will definitely build up your muscle tone. There are some excellent websites, my personal favourite is www. shapemagazine.com or go to about.com and look under fitness/exercise for upper arm exercises.

Just eat a well balanced healthy diet, and avoid a lot of fat/junk food (eat healthy snacks) and drink water.

Personally, I have switched to skim milk, fat-free (reduced), lower this & that and I definitely watch the calories, esp. since I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and take this very seriously.

I read a lot of health articles and subscribe to a variety of women's health magazines which have tons of useful information. I use their segments at the gym and have tried the occassional recipe.

Just use good old fashion common sense. You'll do it.

You might want to pick up some 3-5 lb hand weights and do some arm exercises to tone your arms. That would help your upper arm area. Then cut back on any unhealthy foods you might eat, increase your activity even if it is just 20 minutes of walking at night (in addition to any soccer you might do). Good luck!
