I have difficulty with the idea of killing wild animals because they are doing what needs to be done to survive. I would almost rather shoot a Republican than a squirrel.

If the lower limbs of your tree are too high for squirrels to reach by jumping, then you can have a "collar" made, a metal sheet that engirdles the tree like a circular shelf. I used that system and it worked perfectly to keep the little guys out of my cherry tree, but I was still compelled to share with the robins. I don't shoot them either.

Some people simply cut a piece or pieces of old fashion stove pipe and put it around the trunk. Squirrels are amazingly resourceful, but they cannot climb metal.

Good luck, and save your amo for child molesters.

I could'nt help to read the problem you are having. I have something that may help you. My husband & I did our back yard & pool area in a tropical them. I found the cutest weatherproof tropical bird (parrott) & hung him on the fence. Almost everyone in CA. has some type of fruit trees in their backyard so I see squirrels passing by ALL the time. My husband gets a kick out of watching the squirrels try to get around this fake bird. I guess it scares them so bad they back off & go the other way. The bird really looks real too & I think it could work with your problem. Browse around & see if you can find something like this & put him out there on your tree or somewhere close that those pesky squirrels see him!Good luck & I hope it works out for you!

I have an apple tree that has the same problem, I get netting but build small nets around the fruit themself instead of the whole tree with how big the tree is. They also sell small net bulbs to go over fruit on fruit trees at hardware stores and guard stores as well but it's far cheeper to build them yourself.

Shoot the little bastards. Then, make a wreath out of their tails and hang it on the tree.
