ok well I drive a 2001 Grand Am and today I got into the car and started to drive and went to signal and I heard this grinding noise and the signal lights aren't working, so then I start hitting the steering wheel and stuff around it to see if something was loose and I felt above my radio console part it was viberating so I hit it really hard and then my signal lights started working again.

What could be loose? How can I fix it? How much will it cost?

p.s. I'm a guy i'm just using my girlfriends yahoo to post this just so some of you dont get any ideas of calling me a typical girl or something.

Multi function switch is most likly the cause, but have seen four way switch cause same complaint. Four way switch is cheaper so I would replace it first. To replace 4way pull trim pannel out by slipping a small screw driver behind trim and pulling out.

if indeed your hitting the steering wheel did solve your problem. the only thing i can think of is you jared the multy- switch, enough to make it start working again, it mey be on its way to failure.
