What is the most glamorous, cutsie, affordable car for a girl to get when she turns 16?

Bugs are cute, but not feasible.I owned one that constantly broke down. That is not a good car for a 16 year old.I think that a Honda civic,or a Toyota camry would be good cars for a young girl. They are both cute, sporty, great on gas,and they usually last for 300,000 miles.

I'm hoping that you're looking to get a job and will buy and maintain your own car.
The problem is that most of the cutsie, affordable cars may not be the best choice for 16-year old girls.

Most teenage girls (and many older drivers of BOTH sexes, to be fair) do not understand the weight and destructive potential in ANY car at speed. It's important to emphasize that even a "cute little" car can kill people and do a lot of damage if driven too fast or out of control. Keep the cell phones turned off and be careful out there!

That said, I think the ultimate "chick car" is the VW Cabriolet. But a car that you can't afford to fix to keep on the road is no fun, either. The Toyota Celica, Mitsu Eclipse, Honda del Sol, are decent too but they're still somewhat specialty cars that will be more expensive.

Other cars that are more reasonable choices include something like a Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza, Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra, and Hyundai Elantra. An older one of these, say, 1998-2002 would be a reasonable first car.

Other good choices would be an older Camry, Accord, or even a newer Taurus, Malibu, or Impala.

There are a lot of more "glamourous" cars out there but most of them aren't very good for beginning drivers. While we're learning it's very easy to underestimate just how fast we're going. If _I_ had a "power car" when I was learning I probably wouldn't be here today. But there is no equivalent to the 4-cylinder 4Runner any more.....

Best of luck, and please do take a driving course, I highly recommend "skid school" or another, more hands-on 1-2 day event too.
