I like books that are just so exciting that you can't put them down. Some of my favorites:

The Three Musketeers by Dumas
Harry Potter!
The Hobbit by Tolkien

Hm so I guess I like fantasy/science fiction novels. But just throw out any good ones you've read lately! :)

Fantasy Fiction Books I recommend:

Author: Tad Williams
1st Series: Memor Sorrow and Thorn: 4 books to include:
The Dragonbone Chair
The Stone of Farewell
To Green Angel Tower Book 1 & 2

2nd Series: 2 books written, waiting on the third:
Shadowmarch
Shadowplay

Of course classic: The Lord of the Rings series

Author: Lois McMaster BuJold
The Curse of Chalion

For lighter reading and classic
Author: Anne McCaffrey
Series:
Start with The Dragonriders of Pern there are 3 initial books
The Dragonsinger of Pern series 3 books
There are so many books and tangential series she has written, she is just a pleasure to read. She began this series years ago as a story for her children.

Try "A Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami. It's an awesome fantasy/sci-fi novel that's written elegantly and the narrative is superb. I couldn't put it down, and have read it several times, and it doesn't get old.

The Odyssey, Dealing With Dragons, anything Roald Dahl. One of my favorite books I've read recently is The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I'm not really into fantasy, but The Shadow of the Wind is AMAZING!!!

Read The Lord of the Rings, if you liked the Hobbit, it's more of the same, only better.
You should also try the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, by Philip Pullman. The first book is called The Golden Compass
