I've never really noticed that before. I guess it depends on what McDonald's you go to. Maybe people order too many milkshakes and the machines can't take it anymore! Lol. Besides, it's McDonald's, what do you expect?

I do not know for certain, but I can speculate.
I think it is because most of those machines are getting some "age" on them. Additionally, the machines run non-stop now and probably it was not the manufacturer's intent to have the machines making treats 24/7.

Because they are almost never cleaned properly. The sugar gets moist and builds up inside the machine and hardens. gets wet again and hardens again after a few weeks, maybe longer, the sugar turns black and has an oder that certain little bugs (roaches) are attracted to. I worked at a certain fast food place for almost 2 weeks and they wanted me to clean a shake machine for a big YEARLY inspection.... I quit right after I got that sucker apart and then told the regional manager that I didn't think it had been routinely cleaned sense the last inspection.

McDonalds milkshake machines are never BROKEN....the crew members are just rude, and break the shake machine down early so they don't have to worry about it later!!! Besides....if you saw what they looked like, you wouldn't want one anywayy

I don't know; we have that problem around here with Arby's--every flipping Arby's within a 20 mile radius. I don't think they're really broken; I think the people working just don't know how to operate them.

There must be many reasons, alongside with incorrect cleansing, shortage of factors, a breakage interior the device....It occurs with alot of ice-cream machines through fact they continually must be maintained and with some eating places it must be difficult to do through fact of a shortage of workers of something of the form....wish this facilitates..;)
