I would say that the example of Britain's membership with the European Union is a great example. I think that a safe majority of British people would rather be out rather than in the EU, mainly because there is a growing concern that laws from Europe (Brussels, where the EU is based) are being imposed on Britain by people that we have not directly elected, and without people having a say. Britain voted for membership of the EU many years ago, but then that was based on economic co-operation rather than the now increasing political interference. But I do think that there should be a referendum on whether British people want to remain in the EU, rather than our politicians handing more powers to Brussels as they 'know best'.
