HAHA! Cow manure? Did someone actually suggest that? It takes all kinds I guess! LOL
I was going to suggest either vinegar or if you like onions, cook a meal with some and chop up a raw onion with your hands. No matter how many times you wash them, the smell doesn't come off for a little while and it's repulsive if you ask me!
Other than that, nail biting is a nervous habit ( I used to do it). I found that chewing gum or having a lollipop in my mouth gave me that oral fixation and I didn't have to bite my nails. Try chewin on a straw or having mints or candies with you. That might break the worst of the habit so you can then conquer the rest. Good luck to you, I know what a hard habit that can be to break! :)

DONT TRY ANYTHING!
Even if you'd put glue to your nails you have to realise this this is not the point..
It's like telling somebody who eats chocolates when is stressed to eat apples..(!) That's stupid.
This person has to stop eating in general when is stressed not JUST try something different (?)!
In your occassion its you brain that causes stress. Example: try to put disgusting things on your nails (not dangerous though!) and go watch a movie.
100 per cent 10 or 20 minutes later these disgusting things are going to be placed right on your mouth mechanicaly!!!
What am i going to tell you, i understand you' having a hard time and you're not the luckiest-happiest person in the world and believe me if you look around you'll see thousands of people alike you who sometimes might be worse than you.
The point is: Can You Make The Difference? Can You Be The One Who Decided And Commanded His Mind To Quit And It Finally obeyed? Because now it becomes the one way around..
Do you know how can you find weak people?(sentimentaly)
look: biting nails, hair, toenails teeth ...smoke, eat, drink, drugs....(i can continue all day)
This is pathological addiction. Addiction. Trap.
Everyone in this world is trapped. Always trying to get a life, always to get free, to forget , to..Everyone is trapped in their mind.
The only thing you have to do is find the problem that real concerns you inside and think of it. Find a solution. There is always a hope a solution. Help yourself. Find more friends, start painting on your free time, watch a movie, listen to the music even you have many things to do after. Enjoy every moment! (like it was the last one)
Look beautiful even if you don't much have money. Make a phonecall to your parents. Talk with your boyfriend (let him pay ;-)). Or find a boyfriend. Every moment counts. Have a new haircut. Buy a some shinny earrings to wear everyday (they'll give you self-confidence) Walk straight-back. Say good morning to your neighbour. It's all in your mind..
Wake up and say this is a new day and let it be like this forever..
p.s. remeber this is not a habbit. this is a way of living

Honestly, I bite my nails too, and so does my dad. However I find that when I'm relaxed and not worried I stop. Like, I haven't bitten my nails in about a month...why? school's over, But it's not like I can just tell you don't stress and all of your problems will go away, because that won't happen. Idk if you tend to bite some nails more than others, because that's what I'd do. However, I find that if I paint my nails awkward colors, like alternating neon colors, I won't bite them, because it bothers me immensely when things aren't even or aren't color coded....you could try that, but I think it's just cause I'm slightly obsessive compulsive. I wish you luck...I quit for like 5 months once, then I looked down and without even realizing it I was biting a nail....Also, try googling some pictures of nailbiting. You may get some grotesque pictures that would traumatize you in to stopping. Good luck

If you hate spicy food, put dip your nails in Chili pepper. lol I just drink more milk, eat more things with calcium , and vitamin c like oranges and orange juice. They help keep nails strong. I used to bite my nail a lot, until they got strong and hard, now I can't bite them off, and can try but its not fun anymore so I stopped.

What do you not like the taste of? For me it's onions. I'd rub my nails deeply into an onion. That would keep me from biting!

It happens because people put stuff in their mouth to kinda give them a sense of security, like chewing on fingernails, chewing pen caps, and even smoking. Just find something to occupy your fingers, like playing some sort of instrument. Good luck!

Apply something that tastes unpleasant to your nails that will dry off, but still be unpleasant once you start biting.

Dip them in tobasco sauce. Frequently. Or wear cotton gloves as much of the time as possible.

Try spritzing your fingers with peroxide and letting it dry. It will not harm you. It has a very awful flavor and should keep you from putting your fingers in your mouth.
