We have two. If I am alone at home till late at night, I will bring them into the house. I feel that safe with them around. They are part of the family, great around my dd. We have not had any problems with these two or the one we had before.
Ours have been well trained. I think people who kind of let theirs run wild (like anything else) are the people who experience problems. I wouldn't trade them in for anything else.

No, people don't hate the dogs as much as they hate the kind of people that tend to own Pitbulls. I see you are probably a good owner but you have to understand that most of the people I see with Pit Bulls are into the "tough" image and probably don't show too much love towards the dogs which probably makes the dogs tend to be more violent. Its stereotyping just like everything else in the world today.

LOL...more like specism.....
I love pit bulls. They are indeed one of the sweetest breeds around. They've been undeservingly given a bad name.
Pit bulls are strong and playful. Ignorant owners have mistreated pit bulls to get negative responses from them, therefore giving them a bad rap.
So not true. Pit bulls are awesome, and I would raise one around my children any day of the week.

pit bulls have gotten a bad rap; a lot of people make them "mean" because they're massive dogs. In reality, like you said, they're great around kids, and very smart. But, they do seem to be the "attack" dog of choice. Hence, the bad rap.

I think they mostly have a bad rap b/c they are used all over for dog fighting. So b/c ppl are cruel to those dogs and force them to fight, they are looked at as a "fighting dog". Really, they owner should be drug out into traffic for being so cruel to an animal.

Well put, Asker, it is like racism as it is based on ignorance and inexperience with the breed. The "bad" ones are corrupted by owners, not genetics, but seems we cannot convince the statistically few victims whom have louder voices than the rest of us.

I think they are very cute! But they can be very aggressive, it really just depends on how the owner raises them. Every pit bull that I have met has been super sweet.

Pit bulls have acquired a bad reputation because of their intended use in breeding coupled with a few serious incidents that got bigtime press coverage. Unlike many other breeds, they are capable of inflicting serious damage.

they are closed-minded idiots!! pits are so cute!! we have 2 german shepherds that people discriminate against as well and they couldnt be sweeter....yip yip dogs are more dangerous than the two of ours.....and yes its exactly like racism. just because some people raise big dogs to be mean doesnt mean we all do.....its the same as saying just because one person is evil doesnt mean that the entire race is evil
