I know that women vote based on looks. Not a generalization...I never said all women. But that is a true sentence. Just as an example, look at what a pathetically trivial thing a vote can be based on. Others include voting how your parents vote, or how much you hate "towel heads", or how your church wants you to vote (I attest, I watched an entire church full of Mormons be told who to vote for in a presidential election), and the ridiculous list goes on. So, yes, it is fair to each individual to GET a single vote, but is it even responsible to continue that practice? Are we being fair to eachother to enforce the will of the irresponsible majority? People are generally not even informed about the issues a president makes decisions on. And unless there is a pre-screening to make sure the candidates are all CAPABLE of the job, I think we may be letting Toonces drive the whole country...

Well, that is why the United States is not democracy but a Constitutional republic. The general public does not vote on any individual issue, but rather selects representatives to vote on issues for them. The President is not determined by popular vote rather by the vote of the Electoral College. It can actually be argued that you do not even vote for President, rather you vote for who your states electoral votes go to (in most states winner takes all). I think our system is generally pretty fair. It clearly is not perfect, but no system of government will ever be perfect.

Just because the election process has flaws does not mean that we should throw it out. Certainly people judge the candidates by sometimes superficial values. Certainly candidates pander to those people. If the electorite is not informed, some of that is the process's fault and not the electorite. Watching the debate with 10 people jostling for time was a waste of my time. There needs to be a report given to all voters with a synopsis of the candidate's history and beliefs. Even the most uneducated voter can sometimes make better decisions on who is more honest and a better candidate that those who decide because he fits the profile of belonging to the same party that you may belong.

I'd say we live in a democracy but we dont. As far as the one person one vote goes, your vote doesn't really matter. If you vote against the majority of your state it's like you had never voted and all cause of the electoral college.

They find the majority and make ALL THE VOTES of that party so it's like you had never voted. It is true we're not well informed but how can we with our media? Paris Hilton gets more publicity than the soldiers in iraq or than people in politics. And even if we did know, it's not always worth the trouble(if ever).

That is why you do not live in a democracy. You live in a representative democracy, actually a republic. We elect people responsible for us.

Like the person above said... we as a nation do not vote on individual bills.

The President really has limited power... When the Congress does its job...

Like it or not, it is what we have. I see your point and it is valid, but according to our laws, there is no IQ test or qualifier to allow you to cast your vote. Just have to hope there are as many uninformed voters on both sides of the ballot box.

those are their votes. they could do despite they desire with them and that seems honest to me. If people could desire to make some thing ensue and get understanding out a pair of particular subject count or concern that they care approximately they could. prepare the loads. in case you do no longer attempt to no longer look shocked whilst they weigh down you with their lack of wisdom and stupidity.

I think this is a road you do not want to travel down. Your vote would be gone first.
