it is very important. tune up saves gas and wear on the motor. bad timing can cause a timing belt or chain to wear out early. a timing belt should be changed every 50.000 miles and a chain every 100.000 miles

That depends on what kind of car you drive. A tune-up on a modern computer controlled vehicle is a mis-nomer, as the vehicle's computer adjusts the engine's controls automatically as you drive. In other words the computer is tuning your car every second you are driving it.

The term I hear more often today is 'maintenance tuneup' that is replacing the worn out parts, plugs, sensors, filters that wear out, again depending on what you are driving.

Check your owner's manual for the maintenance service recommendations for the way you drive your car, either normal or severe, and do what it says for the mileage specified. Some additional services may be necessary, seek the recommendation of someone you trust who services your car on a regular basis.

Yes. A tuneup will make your car run smoother and get better gas mileage. Check your owner's manual for a schedule of when maintenance should be done.

Good luck.

Yes Spark plugs, plug wires, engine coolant, Power steering fluid, and break fluid. Need changed also. Now they do not need change as regularly and oil but they will go bad. I would say after you get 100000 mile on your car its time for a tuneup.
