River System, main channel of a river together with all tributary rivers and streams that flow into it.

A river system is all the surface water (river and its tributaries) and all its subsurface water (the aquifer). Most of the water in a river system is held in the aquifer, although the flow is very slow, except for that portion in the surface water.

Rivers, like global warming, do not exist...

But water seems to enjoy flowing downgradient in confined channels...
