Traditionally modes of transportation, specifically boats, are referred to as females. I don't know why.
In Latin, nautical terms are often feminine gender words, maybe that's why.

When referring to inanimate objects, like cars and boats, some think of them as female.
Example: I love my new Maserati. She's a real beauty!

For some reason I do the same thing. My crazy mom calls her truck a he. I call my car a she. Lotz of ppl do it. I dont think there is really a reason just a bit of crazyness.

HA this one I know. My mom told me ages ago.
it's because the car carries you ( well drives you ) to places and holds you in it. Just like a mother does when shes pregnant does carry her baby. So they give it a feminine name.
