Wow! I can't believe how many people are on the same side on this immigration stuff. What is wrong with our representatives in Washington?

I agree with you. It's like the American Population Vs. The American Federal Government when it comes to this immigration mess. Could they have been any more wrong on this whole thing? We need to find more stuff to agree on.

Don't be misled by what you see on Yahoo Answers. The vast majority of users are young people who lack the wisdom experience brings to make informed political decisions and instead speak from the bottom of a well of personal prejudices. Yes, this is true for many older people as well, but the ignorance of youth is much more pervasive and unavoidable.

Take the time to get to know something about real life before you start condemning people to die of starvation in corrupt countries like Mexico. Why can't Mexicans fix their own country's problems? In a word: Catholocism.

I've seen a number of polls that show people are split pretty well down the middle on the amnesty issue, though not by party lines. There are a lot of people out there who think the amnesty bill is a great idea. There are a lot who think it's awful. And what is probably the vast majority wants some sort of compromise between the two positions.

A long and costly path to legal status is not amnesty. The people who qualify did break the law but a law that served an inadequate immigration policy that did not meet the country's needs. So did the business that hired them, so why are you not calling for their punishment and against their defacto amnesty?

So instead of getting 12 million people to step up and be recognized so that they may continue to do the work they are doing, collect the taxes that go unpaid, and keep the economy going, you want to drive them deeper underground.

Yes, lets round up 12 million people (we don't know exactly who) and deport them. We don't need to concern ourselves with destroyed families, lost homes, wrecked businesses, and an atmosphere of fear. After all they, are law breakers. To handle this task we will have to form the Office of American Purity, then authorize the agency to round up 12 million into camps and then send them away by train. Because they don't belong here, they don't deserve to be here, America is for Americans.

For those cheering this last paragraph, you disgust me.

I think most citizens have the same view.

If you are here legally, cool. If you are here illegally, you should be sent home.

I have no problem with immigration, as long as people come to this country through legal channels and methods. I do have a problem when the violate our immigration laws by entering this country illegally.

I don't know. I feel like I'm out here on my own. For a very long time the already existing rules and laws we're ignored. The immigrants illegal or not, were used for cheap labor. They bought houses, paid taxes, etc. So to me this is yet another smokescreen issue.

Yup. Kinda like how 75% of America wants to end the Iraq War, and yet our Representatives aren't doing crap about it. (Granted, it's not as bi-partisan an issue but how can argue with a 3/4 majority?)

It is good so many Americans are against this crap piece of legislation. Hopefully, our "representatives" in Washington will listen to the voice of the people that voted for them.

No,,people like John McCain think an un American idea such as granting amnesty to people who have broken the law is a good idea. I don’t see many Democrats agreeing with that.

There are a lot of people on many sides of immigration issues. Those in congress are well aware of this.

Simple; the politicians work for big business,.... not the people that voted them into power!

They haven't had out interests at heart for over 10 years.

Build the fence & deport them all. And send the politicians who voted for amnesty with them!
