War is hell. Although I've never been to war, I am married to a vet and I've known enough soldiers who went to Viet Nam and now, Iraq.
My bumper sticker says "War is not pro-choice" and people are always giving me the finger or the peace sign.
War is always hell. You wearing a shirt utilizing freedom of speech should be considered just that. Freedom of speech. But the person who said it was offensive is also entitled to the same right.
By the way, I'm a teacher and wore a shirt with a small Chinese symbol that means "peace". Under it, in very small letters is the word "peace". I was asked not to wear it to school again.

We are not fighting a war, we are fighting a half-hearted conflict where the politicians are more worried about their image than the lives of the soldiers they have sent into battle.
we are in a Politically Correct Quagmire.
The reason we cannot win currently is that the politicians will not let the military do it’s job, as they are too worried about looking bad in the press.
Our Soldiers are fighting with their shoe laces tied together by the legislature, and with handcuffs on at the hands of the President (as he doesn’t want to look worse).
If this war was to be a war, the President and Uncle Rummy would have given the Commanding Generals what they said they needed to do the job, which was an initial force of 400,000 troops.
Standard US Military Doctrine is that you do not engage the enemy unless you have at minimum a 3 to 1 numerical superiority. Instead they handed the Generals ¼ of what they needed and told them just to do it.
If you want this war to be one, take the handcuffs off our troops and let them do their jobs.
Collateral Damage? Civilians killed in the crossfire? Too bad, blame the insurgents for launching attacks in the midst of civilians so that they can cry to the press once our men and women return fire.
War is not nice, war is not pretty, war is hell...but there are men and women who have signed up to endure this hell so that the people at large do not have to. They are prepared to give their lives for the country, they are prepared to fight, they are prepared to get the job done. All we need now is for the Politicians to let them.
I’ll close with a quote from one of the greatest military men in our history, General Patton
“They key to winning a war is not to die for your country, it’s in getting the other poor dumb bastard to die for his.”
They want to be martyrs? Let’s help them get their wish.

I think your friend has the right idea. The esoteric thought that war sucks and that we would prefer to party may be fun in peace time but could easily be misinterpreted while we have troops in harms way. It may appear to send the message that war sucks so anyone who engages in it sucks, too. I hope you don't think that about our brave men and women that are serving in the military.

I want that shirt!!! i would wear it everyday. Why would it affend anybody? Even CONSERVATIVES SHOULD THINK WAR IS BAD even if they think it is a good caus, only heartless people would not think it was bad. War does suck. Its a fact. And who wouldnt rather party? I know all my military friends would.

as a side note..."war sucks, let's party" sounds like the political platform of the republican party, as the Iraq adventure is going badly and we need tax cuts to stimulate the economy,

you seem to forget, dear Elaine F, that god is on our side and that makes it a just war, even a holy war. You wonder why the civilized Nations call us aggressive....go figure! I consider myself an American above all, but my logic is not affected by my patriotism. I, too, am a Vietnam Veteran and find useless wars just that, useless.

that's stupid, how can you have a war and not feel awful about it? there's so many innocent people dying out there and we quibble over a helicopter that's been shot down. it's ridiculous.
btw, i love Anti-Flag!!!!

Actually, I'm all in favor of takin' it to the terrorists but war does suck and I know that from Vietnam. I got two bullet holes in my hide to prove it, it's just that sometimes you got to do what you got to do. Your shirt doesn't offend me.

If you hate America, then YOU suck.
But if that's your opinion on war, then who cares?
