That is dependant on where you live. In the NE October most bike shops and private sale prices drop as no one wants to store them. On the "Left Coast" the prices maybe a bit more stable but as spoken before just before the new models hit the show rooms, Late Oct- Mid Feb, is the best time to look for bargins.

Prices in the Washington DC area have already started dropping on some models, I've seen $1000+ off the MSRP on some models recently advertised. The first bikes price to drop are those that weren't as popular as the manufacturer had hoped, you will likely have to wait until end of season as others mentioned to get that great deal on a really popular model...assuming they still have some from the 2007 model year. I think this buy off-season model works better in the used market then the new market because the new models usually arrive during off-season, so they won't be quick to discount them.

This can somewhat depend on where you live.
In areas such as mine (Wyoming) where the seasons are more pronounced, the riding season usually ends late fall (November/December) and the prices of bikes drop then.
In places like southern California and Florida where the climate is warmer for most of the year, you might not see much fluctuation.
But I would say to start looking for deals maybe mid-October in most places.
If you live near an Air Force Base, keep checking with ads from airmen because when they get PCSed somewhere, a lot of times they will sell vehicles cheap to get rid of them quickly.

Usually dealerships try to clear them out at the end of August, but by then that is last years model. The best way that I have found to purchase is to know what you want and have the financing ready when you go in to the dealership. Also, look in bigger cities for the dealerships that have the deals. The cheapest place to buy may not always be the best place. Look into their service reacord and ask around.

in the southern usa the best prices are in november-january. dont wait til march or the prices rise with spring...that is on used bikes, new ones drop with new models arriving AND if they sit around past their current model year, they drop and drop some more.

Shortly before the new ones come out, though if you shop around for a dealer you can usually get a steal.

fall season is usually the best. reason for that is that new bikes come and they try to sell the previews year and also most people buy in summer so fall is pretty slow.
