ROGER WHITTAKER in 1983 sang the song Wind Beneath My WIngs.... Written by: Larry Henley and Jeff Silbar... Over 200 artists have sung this song in all genres of music. Some of the artists are: Sheena Easton, Gary Movis, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Lou Rawls, Perry Como, Lee Greenwood, Willie Nelson, Kiki Carter, Nana Mouskowie and Senata Arctica. I just love this song sooo much!!! I love the Bette Midler version of this song. She is a wonderful singer!!! I had a friend that had someone sing WInd Beneath My Wings and her wedding. I love many of Bette's songs and I had The Rose song at my wedding. Thanks for asking me this question and now I am going to get out my Wind Beneath my Wings song and play it!! Smile

"Wind Beneath My Wings" has now been recorded by about 200 artists, in practically all genres of music. It reached its greatest notoriety in 1989, when it became a #1 hit for Bette Midler (from the "Beaches" soundtrack), and subsequently won the Grammy Award for "Song Of The Year."

Whilst Bette Midler's version is the best known, it was actually recorded by Sheena Easton, Roger Whittaker, Gary Morris, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Lou Rawls before Midler ever released it. Easton and Whittaker both released their versions in 1982.

Bette Midler sang it, it's taken from the soundtrack for her film 'Beaches'. Don't think anyone sang it before her!
