I'm 23 and I have a beautiful 31/2 year old boy but i don't want anymore children ever!I have been asking my doctor to do it for me since my son was born but she says Im too young.I also asked her to send me to someone else but she said that no one will do it for me.She thinks that i will regret it but i know in my heart and soul that i never want another child. If i got pregnant i would have an abortion. My sister lives in the UK(Im in Ireland)and she says that i could get my tubes done over there in a private clinic. So where can i go in ireland to get it done?

You are entitled to do whatever necessary to prevent pregnancy. Dont listen to those on here telling you its a risk and that you could die ! The procedure is very common and life in general is a risk !!! If you know that you no longer what children, that is your business and surely a doctor will do it. Good luck to you !

I am in the same boat as you...I am 24 and have a 5 year old son...I don't want to have anyother children either, and want to have my tubes tied....I can't find a doctor to do it either, I have thought about what if I want another kid in like 10 years well I would adopt, SAVE A LIFE. To the other judgemental a**holes who don't understand don't respond then...

You should be able to get a second opinion and find someone who will do it. But it is a health risk. It is surgery. You could die. So, no one wants to risk your health for no reason at this young an age. They would rather u take the pill. Explain to them how serious you are about it that you would have an abortion if u got pregnant and that you are prepared to go to the UK if you have to.

Words of wisdom!

One child may seem like enough at the moment- though there are things to consider before the action is implanted....

- What if something were to happen to the only one you had...
- He will eventually need someone to play with....
- What if you were to pass way by 35, who would he have to communicate with, if there are no other sibilings...
- What if your partner would like to have a/another child....

Ask yourself these questions, there are many ways methods of Birth Control....

I agree with your doctor....but if you there are several ways to definitely not get pregnant and yet not permanently alter your body. Depo Vera..... birth control injection taken every three months sounds like a good option for you. and if when you turn like thirty five and you still "never want kids" then go get 'em tied or whatever. But I dont think it is a good idea to get them tied when you are only 23.

Talk to doctors till you find one that WILL honor your request.

You should not have to go on birth control till you can get them tied.

You could also talk to your husband about getting snipped. I hear that is much healthier and more successful than getting your tubes tied.

(as a side note... I would not get depo, it is horrible to a woman's body, was on it for four years and hated it)

you should wait to do what you want to do. i think you feel like that because babies under the age of 4 can seem like overwhelming. but as children grow older the relationship between parent and child is beautiful. to know that a part of you is out there is awesome. try to wait at least another few years before you tie your tubes. also you might want to talk to someone at your church so that you may be guided in the right direction.
think of your child too, who will your child remember you with if he is an only child, give him the oppprtunity to have at least one sibling. we all need family and if you and your spouse die he will be all alone

My Doctor always told me 3 or 30.

So for him you either have ot have 3 kids or be over 30!

Sorry!
