Cause they are IDIOTS!!! That's my guess!! They probably have an old Dodge truck in the front yard that serves as rust storage!
Maybe even a toilet bowl planter!!

I thought they used flamingos as flamingos and garden gnomes as garden gnomes! When I was a kid, they were used as decorations, they signified warm weather, beaches, and the state of Florida. A place 'seniors' retired to. I only saw them on the 'old folks' gardens. Now, as far as I know its a joke. Because they are so pink and plastic and not natural. Surely anyone who has them on their lawn know people think its funny. I think people put them on their lawns to make other people smile!

It's a "Florida dream" thing. I guess if they see the pink plastic flamingos, they think they are in Florida. Is cheaper than living there though.

I thought there was a movement to reclaim all those birds...? Isn't the manufacturer going around getting them from homes? I'm not sure where I heard/saw that... Oh, definitely tropical and less creepy than the gnomes... Gnomes get stolen more than birds right...?

I'm not sure what the proper use of a garden gnome is. If it's to look ridiculous, then that's why 95% of we Americans keep them in our yards.

I never really thought about that..but I see those bright pink flamingoes, usually in Florida...probably has something to do with wanting their lawn to "stand out".

I think they are tacky. But in my town it is a charity thing they do.If your participating in the charity you put a flamingo in your yard.( something like that).I'd rather walk for a charity.those flamingos are goofy.

It probably started in Florida, which is the only place you'll find them in the U.S., and they're not even native there. Maybe someone's grandparents moved there, got them, and someone got them to remind them of them, and it took off. We have a cute charity program here--they'll stick about 20 of them in a person's yard with a sign saying, "You've been flocked!"
