claim we are "denying health care" to Americans. I ask again, who do you know has been "denied" health care? Before you change it to "we are denied the "best" possible health care, are you a medical doctor? If not, then don't try that lame excuse, just answer the question as to who exactly gets "denied" health care...

Bush invented: Just name who you know that has been denied. No one in the USA can be denied treatment in an emergency, if they have been then it has been denied illegally. You just want the government to cover every treatment.

Hemmingway: In other words, you can't answer the question, thanks for making my point.

Nick F: that is denial of a plan, not of actual care itself.

2007-06-07 07:21:46 · update #3

psatm: If that helps you justify wanting the government to give you handouts, me I would rather take care of myself, a foreign concept to you.

Cloud: thanks for chiming in with your usual grace and class. What's the matter, can't make an arguemtn without lobbing an insult, typical. Your example says nothing about the women being "denied" health care, just paying more for it. She can't legally be denied health care. I don't expect you to understand, but stop looking for handouts and get a job, maybe then you can move out of the trailer park.

Johnny Y: Nice fancy talk, but no real point. I have health care but if I didn't I don't think your "lame" situation would ever come up, I don't need a handout, I prefer to earn my life and livelihood.

Easy to say stupid question, share with us your thoughts as to why...

Adam T.: Again, they are not "denied" health care, I'm just making the point that the argument for Univ. health care I've heard used is "denial of care". That isn't true. The current system may be flawed but it does not "deny" healthcare. Universal health care is not the answer.

2007-06-07 07:34:06 · update #8

song1709: See above, I'm not claiming the system is perfect, but Universal care is not solving the problem. Again, the point is they were not "denied" care, just not the care you thought was needed and you are not a doctor. When it's my time to die, I will die, for whatever ailment I have. Universal health care does not give you "better" care, it lessens the care you have now.

2007-06-07 07:36:42 · update #9

delphi: So then you WEREN'T denied heath care? Thanks for anwering. Universal Health Care doesn't make your wait less or your care better, it gives you no choices in your care and your provider. Read up on it before you support it, it's not the answer to solve the problems in the industry you are complaining about. I know the problems are there, but trust me, this is not the answer.

Why does the government owe me health coverage?

Why should everyone else pay for me not trying to live my life as healthy as I can to prevent having to get medical treatment and live the rest of my life taking pill after pill, whose only real purpose is the counteract the last pills side effects?

Why would I want the government to choose MY doctor? They do that over in England, and from what I hear, if your doctor sucks...there is not much you can do about it.

I have heard the in Japan I believe, you pay your Dr to keep you well. If you get sick under his care, he has to treat you for free.

Now that makes sense!

My husband, who is self employed, and can not afford health care, got very sick.He was not denied entrance to the emergency room, but only given a quick look over, given a standard I.V. to rehydrate him,and sent home. They did no testing, nor did they recommend any follow up.
A friend, who has no health care, was not denied the emergency room either, they found a cancerous tumor in his stomach. He was told he could not have it removed unless he came up with an extraordinarily high amount of money,he did not qualify for any sort of assistance. He has since, died.
Many I know of,get help, but are given prescriptions, they just can't afford to fill.
After all of this Emergency room stuff, their is the Bill, and it is high.It really amazes me how callous people can be.You really have to be in a down position to understand it.Until, and unless you are, you may never get the reasoning behind Universal Health Care.

So, if I understand your question correctly regarding the uninsured...

A woman can go to the emergency room and get a pap smear or a mammography when she needs this done? No.

Anyone experiencing kidney failure and needs to be on dialysis, or any other chronic disease, just needs to wait 3-6 hours at the ER for treatment? Doesn't happen.

Uninsured children are twice as likely to die in hospitals as insured children. Do you consider that acceptable?

You are in denial if you think "denying adequate healthcare" isn't "denying health care." Tens of thousands die every year as a result of it.

I know alot of people who actually had insurance through their work and through retirement who were denied healthcare that would have saved their lives. Since the insurance co. refused to pay for the treatment, One of my friend's who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer were told by the doctor that he had 3 weeks to live, to go home and find a nice place to die. I'm not joking here. The person fought it and happened to know someone higher up in the insurance company who made it possible for my friend to get the care he needed to live a longer life. He lived an additional 5 years. Alot of people get denied healthcare even if they have insurance and didn't have a pre-existing problem. Just read the newspapers, there are a lot of stories like my friend's.
I know another couple who have to pay for their own health insurance because their employers won't pay for it. They pay about $1000 amonth for the 2 of them. They have to have it because they are getting older and need the coverage. They can barely make the payments. Insurance companies are in it for the profit. If they have to cover your surgery or treatment that might save your life but takes from their profits, they are going to refuse you treatment for the sake of their shareholders. Yeah, that's the kind of system we want: Profits over people.

BTW, I believe in fighting cancer and not capitulating to it just because an administrator in a greedy insurance company doesn't believe your life is worth it. Most people would agree with me.

anyone unemployed that has a preexisting medical condition can be denied a (paid) heath care plan by the health care providers, it's almost impossible to get health care if you are unemployed and have a medical condition

denial of a plan is effectively the same as denial of health care or do you really think the emergency rooms should take care of everything, you're nuts, that's not the solution

You are a fool if you believed what you wrote. I'm sorry if this has offended you. 4hrs 45minutes in the emergency room cost me 10 grand. All I had was a kidney infection. They ran unnecessary tests after I was loaded up with morphine! I was at the time uninsured. Do you know that our government officials get the very best there is for free! We The People don't deserve the same? I work, I contribute. And yes people are turned away for treatment everyday. You must live in a very closed world that you aren't aware of this.

People may not be "denied" access to health care, but those WHO CANNOT AFFORD IT do not receive it! If one does not have insurance, there is a chance they will not be admitted. Insurance in rediculously expensive, and that is what some politicians are trying to alter. After paying 200 a month, I am all for cheaper premiums and the opportunity for those less fortunate to be able to get the care they need.

I have been denied Health care. reason "health issues". The only one that will carry me is the State because they have to and my premiums would be over $900.00 a month with a yearly deduction of $5,000. I am not the only one either. There are many like me. i am not asking for free medical insurance just a reasonable one that working people can afford.

When the national health service started in Britain, around 40 thousand women from south west england had to have their prolapses put back..thats right folks..they were carrying their prolapses..

You really don't know the scale of sufferring in america, of untreated conditions - from people who cannot afford healthcare.

What is the point in being the richest country on earth, if your only answer is to moralise and preach this right wing idiocy - at people sufferring?

2007-06-07 14:28:41 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 3 1

People without insurance who cannot afford to pay for health care out of their own pockets.

That's who.

Incidentally, I'm undecided about universal health care. But it's irresponsible to assume that no one has ever been denied health care in this country; it happens every single day.
