It was somewhere in Manhattan. The coffee shop they hung out in was called Central Perk Cafe, but it didn't look like the upper part of Manhattan, the street scenes looked more like Greenwich Village or Soho.

Not recalling any specific references, but I figure, Manhattan of course, but the West Side, lower, like probably Greenwich Village, Soho, or maybe Tribeca. That apartment was huge and looked like a decent building. And it was definitely downtown.

They lived in Greenwich Village in New York City, which is mid to downtown on the west side of Manhattan.

Manhattan, greenwich village those are the best parts of the NYC where the characters of friends live,and where many great movies are being filmed in. including spiderman movies.
my friend lives there and acted in many movies.

massachusetts? Manhattan, but the fantasy tv world manhattan where a part time barista at a coffee shop can afford to live in a big nice apartment.

Definately Manhatten. They've made refernces to Central Park, like it was within walking distance.
Probably Greenwich Village to be more specific, but not sure.

I guess not. Massachusetts is a state; it's not part of New York City. I believe they were living in "the Village", that is Greenwich Village, or possibly SoHo.
