Ok, my real father passed away 7 years ago. I havent forgotten him, but God has blessed me with a wonderful stepfather. He is someone I knew before my mom met him, so he already had my approval. He's a good, honest, godly man. He loves me and my sister like we are his own children (he has 2 children of his own, and we get along with one of the really well, and the other one fairly well). When talking about the family, he refers to me, my sister, and his children as "mine and Angela's children". Don't get the wrong idea. When he first became my mom's boyfriend, and things were starting to look serious, he told me he didnt want to be my daddy. He wants to be my friend. And he is. He's done so much working away to provide our family with everything we need, and even some things we want. I want to show him i appreciate it. He collects Hull Pottery, the brown ones. He also has a kid in him, he likes Shrek (He bought us the glasses.....lol). He also likes gospel music.

While i like the idea of getting him tickets to a movie or something, that wont really work....he's not gonna be in to visit for very long at all.......he works 14 hrs away.........so its gonna be hard for him to get the opportunity to do that....thanks for the suggestion, though

Some gospel CD's would be nice. But most guys like tools. A gift card to Sears, Lowes, etc., would help supply this. I don't suggest buying him a tool, unless you know exactly what he wants. The same for the CD's. Gift cards work well, with a nice greeting card!

Take him out to eat. IDK how old you are, if your still at home....maybe make up some IOU's for helping around the house. Gift certificates for Cabela's/LL Bean or something like that. That way he can get what he needs when he needs it... like lines for the poles and ammo for the guns. Book(s) or a magazine subscription to/about hunting and fishing. Offering to go on one of his hunting and fishing expeditions with him. (parents really like this more than anything else). There must be other interests he has besides those...what does he do between the hunting seasons? *I like the DVD idea: Jeff Foxworthy, and the like. * Stay away from Walmart..... be a conscious consumer! Just say no to big box stores! besides a hunting and fishing shop has the better quality stuff.

Instead of getting him something material, why not get him a gift certificate for an event (concert, funny movie, even an intro potting class, lol) to attend with you? he probably doesn't need more "stuff", especially since a lot of it is still in storage. A good memory of a day with you will mean a lot more to him than a pottery bowl.

He sounds like a cool guy, why don't you get him and your mama some tickets to a jazz concert? Parents love that stuff!
