Agoraphobia is an extreme fear of open spaces. Having so much anxiety that you "don't want" to do something is different than an anxiety attack. If you simply don't want to go outside, you might have some anxiety, but it wouldn't necessarily be called an anxiety attack. People who suffer from panic attacks feel that they will not survive if they are exposed to the trigger (in this case, going outside).

I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

There are 2 programs out there that are famous for treating Panic Attacks and Anxiety successfully. They are: Panic Away and The Linden Method. You may wonder, "Which one is better?" Don't worry, you're not the only one with that question. The Panic Away program is more appropriate for people who can cope with their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well. Linden Method is more for those who aren't really good in coping their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well. Check out the reference for the full comparison.

Years ago I had a neighbor and she couldn't go anywhere because she felt like the sidewalk was coming up in her face. The doctor told her when she felt one of these spells coming on to go outside and plant a plant or something to get her mind off of herself. She would do this and she lived the last part of her life fine. It's probably anxiety attacks.

Yes, it sounds like Agoraphobia. I recommend a visit to the Dr. and a rx of Xanax. You must make yourself leave the house, a little at a time. Hope you feel better soon. I know your pain.
