Absolutely not. You have to fulfill the pre-medical course requirements, but you can major in anything you want. I'm in medical school now, and I majored in biology, but I have classmates who did engineering, history, english, chemistry, etc. However, I've found that having a strong science background (in things like biology and chemistry) has made medical school much easier than if I hadn't taken some of those classes. Good luck with your decision and with medical school! :)

No you do not have to take the pre-med course. As a matter of fact, a good science major in biology or life science is better. What if, after four years, you change your mind about medicine? With a premed major you're stuck. With a life science major, many other options are open to you, including medicine.

You don't have to major in medicine when you are 'below the Bachelor's Degree' but you MUST major in medicine if you are at the Master's Degree ... Medical School gives you an MD, not a Master's degree, but you MUST TAKE IT to become an MD.
