I got mine christmas morning, 1999. thanks santa. I woke up thinking I had peed on myself. I wasn't scared, but I wasn't prepared either. Luckily I had an older sister who already had pads and stuff.

LOL...I have 11 1/2 and me and my family went out of town after church and we stopped by dairy queen to eat lunch and i went to the bathroom and found out. I freaked. I was so scared i didn't tell anybody until that night after Sunday night service. Thank God i was wearing a black shirt so you couldn't tell i had blood all over it. And no I has not prepared. At that point I didn't know what a period was.

I think my first was kind of ironic. I was 12 years old and I was actually playing with some dolls when I started. Talk about "not a girl, not yet a woman." LOL
I wasn't scared, though. My mom was really cool about explaining everything before it happened, so I was prepared.

I had just finished horse back riding with my friend and I was confused about why my gut muscles where aching. I was an avid horse rider and had never felt that ache before. I went to the restroom and wiped and found it. I stuffed toilet paper in my underwear and got my mom. She helped show me what to do.
My friend that I was horse riding with got her first one 3 months later. Her mom was on vacation and only her dad was in the house. She called me frantic (she knew what it was because of me 3 months earlier), but her mom did not have any pads or tampons in the house. My mom and I drove over there and took her some pads, and my mom showed her how to use them. LOL!!! I don't think her Dad ever realized what we were there for. I was "helping her with her homework".

I was 11 and I was def. prepared but not very excited. I got it on a Saturday morning. I ran to my mom bawling because I had skating practice that day and didn't want to miss it and didn't want to wear an ugly bulky pad while skating. She was very understanding and we got some Tampax right away so I could still enjoy my skating lesson ( =

Starting your period is a very weird experience. I went to the bathroom, wiped & seen a spot of blood. I was terrifed because I didn't know who to tell! So I got a minipad out of the counter & wore that until I told my mom later on that night. She understood perfectly & gave me everything I needed.

I was a late one, at age 15. The week before i actually got my period, i had gotten really bad stomach pains. She asked me where the pains were, and i told her. She told me i might have cramps, and i told her i didnt see any blood when i went to the bathroom. Exactly a week later, i woke up and went to pee and there was the blood my mother was talkin about. i stayed home that whole day in pain. Till this day i cramps, bad cramps.

well i was almost ganna be 10 and i was up at 2 in the morning watching cartoons in my room and then i felt something funny down there so i looked at my underwear and i saw blood and i wasn't scared at all. i just went to my mom and i said i think i have a cut or something because my underwear has blood and she told me all about that boring stuff anout puberty and gtting your first period and then she gave me pads and told me how to put them on and when to change them and now i'm 12 and i still wear pads because evrey time i see tampons i scream because they look so scary to put on so when theres commercials on t.v. about tampons i turn the t.v. off and wait for it to finish.

It was my 8th grade year, I was in school I went to the restroom and it was there. I wasn't scare but I was worried because I had no pads. So I told my friend and she told me to go to the nurse. She gave me a huge pad that I felt everyone could see it, it was thick.
