wouldnt that be more dangerous if a tire blew out since it dosent have another to fall back on

If one of these tires looses air the side walls are thick enough to handle the load on the tire. These are pretty good tires and cost quite a bit of money. They also help in fuel economy.

The best part about a single wide tire is if it is low on air you can see it most tire failures on semis are caused by the tire loosing air and the tire next to it holding it up so it looks like it's fine.
