Go visit lots of universities and junior colleges, and decide based on where you'd like to spend time and who you'd like to learn from.

A junior college/transfer plan can be cheaper, but harder to complete within 4 years. Completing on time is worth a lot.

Some notable community college graduates
1. Walter Kronkite
2. Arnold Schwarzennegger
3. Billy Crystal
4. Colin Powell
5. Tom Hanks
6. Joan Lunden
7. Clint Eastwood
8. Will Farrel
9. Jackie Robinson
10. Nolan Ryan

I read an article that said a report stated on average community college transfers have the same GPA's as four year students at universities. Hope this helps your decision easier.

Colin Powell went to a community college than transferred to a four year does that answer your question? It's a darn good idea because employers don't look down on potential employees who started at a community college then graduating from a university. In fact they see this as a sign of strength, perseverance and maturity. It's much easier to complete your basics at a community college because there are smaller classes and less distractions. Plus you save money. Good luck and study hard

You didn't give us enough information to answer intelligently.

What are your other options? If your choice is between a community college or a job flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant it's a no brainer. If you are considering two year and four year colleges the better choice would depend on your preferences and goals.

Certainly a community college can be a good and inexpensive place to start if residential campus life is not important to you. And, remember, you don't have to spend two years at a community college...you can transfer to a four year college at any point if you have achieved reasonably well.

yes. it's a good idea because you can get rid of mostly all your pre-requisites for your major and finish your math, english, science, history requirements before entering the actual university you want to go to. however, it may differ from college to college. if i were you, i would check to make sure that they offer the classes. if not, you can always take it at the university when you transfer.

also, it's WAY CHEAPER at community college than the university.

I did it that way and It was fine.. I saved some money. Now it depends on the type of person you are and how your family feels about it. Take lower division courses and minor classes at JC. It worked for me because I love change and I paid for it myself. For my kids I think I want them to do the 4 yr straight off the bat. But if they go to state then transfer to harvard Ill save some money. Congrats on your grad and good luck to you! Good Job!

It will save you money, but make sure that the community college offers all the courses you need, and that the courses are transferable.
