That's not wierd. It's fun to explore new places, especially if they're close by and easily accessible. If the other people keep saying your wierd for traveling in the local area, just tell them to go to Hell, Michigan USA 48169!!!

I do that all the time. I once visited Salt Lake City just for the hell of it and everyone there kept insisting there was some other reason. Some people are just small minded and do not like to venture out into the world without some sort of reason/

I do it all the time; not only other cities but other states, too. Actually there are only a couple of states I've never been too, but I vow to visit before my time is up. I love it. I like to see just the simple difference of people from place to place (I love to people-watch)- accents, cultures, religions, financial status... It's too fun. Also, I'm kind of a dreamer and I enjoy trying to put myself in their shoes for a moment or visualizing what their life is like out of the moment I'm seeing them in.
Not to mention, I live in a hot valley and I'll do anything to get out of the heat sometimes ;)

Not in the least bit weird. I've visited other countries for the very same reason.

there is nothing wrong with wanting to expand your mind, and traveling does this in so many ways. you learn the about the area, the environment, the people, and about yourself. just think about how explorers did just that and if they had stopped looking because others thought this was weird. we all could still be living in europe. keep up what you are doing and you will be a very worldly person before your time is up in this world.

There's not one thing wrong with that. I live in Phoenix and have been known to get a couple friends together and go to San Diego for lunch or Vegas just to place a bet on a game. I've driven to Seattle, to Vail, to Telluride, to Boise ... it's all about experiencing life. We're only here for a relatively short time and you should have as many experiences as you can in that time. It's hard to have varied experiences when you stay in one place the whole time.

I say travel anywhere and everywhere you can until you can't do it any longer. Your life experiences will be so much richer for having done it.
For the rest of your life, please remember...any chance you get to go somewhere new, whether it's the next town over, across the country or anywhere in between, do it.

I don't think it's weird...I do this, too!
Spring Break before last, one of my friends and I took a road trip around our state and we found some neat stuff our other friends hadn't even heard of! They were actually jealous, those nay-sayers!
