I would never be able to tell a girl to her face that she was ugly. even if she asked for my opinion AND if I thought she looked bad.
But most women wouldn't think twice about telling a guy what they think of his looks!

Same thing with fat and skinny people. You aren't allowed to tell someone they are too heavy, but anyone can remark on whether or not a person is too thin.

Why the thumbs down? It's the truth.

that's your individual perception of things, and it's not true at all. I think more men assess & share their opinions of a woman's appearance than women do of a man's appearance, positively AND negatively. Women's appearances are sometimes the only thing that is taken into account when assessing the "value" of their existance. This occurs everywhere, the media especially, magazines, movies, commercials, etc. All imply that if women don't look like this [heroin-chic, or busty, or w/ "back"] then they are irrivocably ugly.

I for one am not like that...if the truth is gonna hurt someone I care about or just met ,for that matter, then I candy coat it as much as I can..Why hurt someones feelings on purpose?I just think some women,(and men) take that a little too literal when someone wants an "honest" opinion...that doesn't always mean the truth to me..=)

You must hang out with some rude biotches. On the same line, I grew up in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and am very fair skinned. I was told, almost on a daily basis, how white I am. It was said as an insult. I didn't need that pointed out every day.

It's considered worse to tell a girl she's ugly because society assumes that her self-worth is more tied up with how she looks than a man's self-worth would be.

That being said, it's still wrong to say that to anyone.

The truth will stand when the world is on fire. Why lie to make someone feel better when they asked you for your honest opinion? Truth hurts.

Talk about generalisation! Just because you wouldn't, doesn't mean other men don't.
And I wouldn't dream of telling someone they are ugly, whether or not they are.

The truest reason for legendary female cruelty is simple; They, by their very natures, shoot first-and ask questions later. When their primordial instincts are aroused for any mere suspicion, they are famous for the 'shoot first' aspect.
Ex;
'And She knows, because She warns him, and Her instincts never fail,
That the Female of Her Species is more deadly than the Male.'

The entire poem is correct on all points and is required reading for all men who would marry or court.-Neglect such at extreme peril.
