My old one is 5.5 hp. I would like to get something stronger. Would 6.5 — 6.75 torque be stronger? Hp seems to be the old measurement.
Thx

There won't be much difference. The thing that will make the most difference will be that the engine is new. I hope you didn't listen to that stuff about a 2 cycle lawnmower. or that a four cycle turns 4 revolutions before firing. 25 years of working on engines didn't help. Keep your engine tuned, good gas and oil and don't let the grass get so long.

If you want power out of a lawnmower you can do several things, but I wil steer your to buying a two cycle lawmower and the reasons are as follows.
Two cycle mowers have more power in high grass versus a 4 stroke and . Four stroke engines have four full revolutions before igniting and that results in loss of power in high grass.
Now a two cycle has only one revolution before igniting thus giving you more torque in the grass.

In my personal a opinion if it is power you want out of lawnmower go two cycle and you won't go wrong.

HP & torque are two different measurements. Torque is the amount of force spinning the blade.

"Its a lawn mower" designed to cut grass. No they dont have a lot of torque because there is not suppose to have an amount of force applied to the rotation of the blades.

6+ hp would be the next logical step up. It will give you a bit more twist.

HP (power) has nothing (or very little) to do with torque (twisting force). ~
