I've tried diomatacious earth and leaving pieces of raw potatoe around certain plants and pick up the pill bugs several times a day. But they and slugs n sails manage to chow down and destroy my plants during the night. I've tried wet news papers rolled up. I want them dead now no messing around. What can I put out to kill them. Oh, I used Seven dust already, but they crawl through that. I don't get it.

u've already told these people that the organic ways don't work... so why are they telling u to waste beer!? listen, if u want to get rid of these pests ur gonna have to break down and buy some pesticides! go to ur local walmart or lowes and get some "Snail Geta" or walmart carries this red box called "Slug and Snail Bait II".... both work really good, don't cost that much, lures them out and kills way more then a beer could ever do! just sprinkle it around ur plants and the area... they won't make it through... trust me! they never do!

For the snails and slugs, which are probably doing the real damage, use one of the iron phosphate based products. Bayer makes one I use that works great and it doesn't hurt other stuff.

The pill bugs don't do any real damage to vigorous plants, although they can do some harm to new seedlings. All that wet stuff will do is attract more. If you clear the area and let things dry out a bit, other than keeping things watered in the morning, the pill bug problem will decline.

I don't know what led him to think that... Your plants will be better off with the organic! Like any fertilizer, don't put too much on at first, a quarter to half what it says on the packet. Some plants like Daphne shrubs will drop dead at the slightest change, but oleanders and lemons are so tough that you probably couldn't kill them if you hacked them to the ground, let alone switched fertilizer...Lol Enjoy them!

I have the same problem. I heard snails and slags don't like coffee grounds. Can't tell if it's work or not yet because I just put it around my plants this morning. I went to local Coffee shoppe and ask lady who works there to collect coffee grounds for me. She gladly did it, which was very nice. She said she did it before for other gardeners. In one one week she collected so much I was able to put those ground almost everywhere. I also heard that ants don't like coffee ether. We'll see. I have no idea though how to get rid off roly poly bugs without poisoning everything around. I have them too.

get a pie pan and recess it into the soil so the lip is even with the soil. pour into it a can of cheap beer. the slugs will drink and drown in it.

this is best done in the evening and you can do it for as long as it takes to get rid of the slugs.

so.. crack and pour a cold one and get ready for a 'slug fest'!

I tried the beer and pie pan thing. Now my neighbor's dog is stumbling around the yard. What's up with that?
