I have two favorites, Coppola and Scorsese. They are both excellent directors. Copolla's movies are beautiful and masterpieces. Scorsese is more gritty, but smart and so entertaing, his films are classics too. They will go down as the masters of film. In my opinion.

Hitchcock. Of course hes not a current director. But his work is timeless. The way he used camera movement to tell his stories was amazing. And in everyone of his movies there were so many twists and intersecting details, that I am always glued to the screen. Truly an innovator.

Peter Jackson, because he made the Lord of the Rings so superb from the book and made an outstanding effort to bring the cast to life... Tim Burton is excellent as well, especially when he works with my fave actor Johnny Depp..

Steven Spielberg
His movies are so entertaining and very nice. He seems to have a good team he always works with (85% of the time); John Williams, Frank Marshall, Kathleen Kennedy, etc. His movies generally are blockbuster hits.

Hard to give just one. I think Kubrick was outstanding. Although he didn't do much I think Neil jordan had and incredible ability, and I'm sorry he hasn't done more. and of course nobody could have a best director without including Hitchcockock, a man with a mind like nobody elses.

My favorite director is Tim Burton, his films always look so beautiful, he is edgy and his films all have this dark sort of gothic edge to them that I like and there is always a little humor thrown in...I just love him, he is such a talented director.

David Lynch, because his film always look good and make you think a little bit.
Kevin Smith because his films are fun and the language is always very clever.
