Ok... the first time it happened i was following my parents to a graduation a couple of weeks ago. i got stopped at a light and then when it turned i gunned it to catch back up... it wasn't even a major gun.. But by the time i hit 65-70ish i felt the car kinda skip, like there was air in the fuel or somethin. the car began loosing power & the power steering stopped. i pulled to the side and we checked the oil..repeatedly tried to restart it.. it still read 1/2 a tank of gas but they checked the tank and fiddled w/ the cap (this was prolly 10-15 min) then i was able to start it. made it to my destination then drove it for about a week b4 i had the same sort of problem. Changed the air filter, fuel filter & put some gas treatment in it. it happened again and now it wont start at all the next day???? I don't know that much about cars so any information you have I would appreciate. THANKS.

Sounds like your question is how to repair an intermittent stall and/or a no start at times condition. It is an intermittent problem and these are very time consuming and could be costly. If you don't know too much about cars, this will probably not make too much sense. The first thing to do is get the PCM and BCM modules scanned for codes that might have been caught a condition that can give clues as to what is going wrong. If there are codes set, you would have to chase those conditions remembering they are only clues, not meant to be used to just start replacing parts. When the car does not start or stall is the time to perform the checks as that starts to narrow down the possibilities. If the motor cranks, but won't start you have to check for fuel pressure available at the injectors and for spark to all cylinder's spark plugs. The fuel rail pressure should be at around35-45 and not leak away too fast. A fuel pressure guage is required. The spark at the individual plug wires should be a strong and consistent while the motor is turning over. If either of these is found to be poor or non-existent, further checking is required to determine which component or circuit is causing the problem. This does not yet say what to replace or repair. Changing the filters is good, but will not repair too many problems like this. If you don't know too much about cars, I would take it into a good shop or a dealership and explain about your intermittent condition and be prepared to leave the car as it cannot be properly diagnosed until it acts up for them. Good luck.

Two things you need to establish, one do you have spark at the plugs, does it have fuel at the fuel rail.If you don't know to much about cars then this is not a job that you want to take on.You could end up spending more money trying to do it yourself than if you took it to a shop

check it by:
open the gas cap get someone to sit in the car stick your ear to the gas cap tell them to turn it on listen if you hear a faint high pitch sound its not that more than likely if its loud or none at all its the fuel pump
