No other sliced-and-diced group votes ANYWHERE close to that for the same party's candidate in presidential election after presidential election.

Not white evangelicals.
Not mexican-americans.
Not single white women.
Not 18-29 year olds.
Not those making less that $15K per year.
Not union members.
Not the over-educated.
Not Jews nor agnostics nor regular churchgoers.
Not gays nor transgendered.
Not pro-abortionists.
And so on down the list of the Democrat Party's most loyal sub-groups.

So, I ask again - what is it about African-Americans that results in the Democrat Party being able to take their vote so completely for granted in presidential election after presidential election?

You got me.

Blacks do better economically under the GOP, at least since 1980 when the GOP decided it was in favor of classical economics, tax cuts, laissez-faire. Black family income rose faster than white family income in the 1980s...

I don't see how past voting records of African-Americans results in the Democrats taking it for granted. It is what it is, a historical record that can be generally counted on to continue outside of some huge change.

Why? Because most minorities do not think of the Republican Party as being truly vested in their problems and they think of Republicans as the party of the discriminatory white man. All they have to do is look at the shift in party balance in the South after the racial unrest of desegregation in the 60's. At that time most of the Southerners who marched with racial epithets right next to scripture on their placards were Democrats. But after the installation of desegregation most of those white Southern Democrats shifted to the Republican Party because they felt the Democrats let them down by not supporting segregation. That sent a clear message to most African-Americans that has continued to send them down the Democratic path.

It isn't a given, many African Americans are Republicans, my step mom for instance. But the majority have historically voted Democratic, should that strong base be ignored by the Democrats?

The answer should be obvious. Just simply look at their track record, historically the current Republican party is made up by the ones that benefit from these policies or those that line up and support these policies even though it's not in their best interest because the party has convinced they are the party of "morals", it's laughable that this party gets as much support as it does, that should tell how racist this country still is. The NRA (formerly known as the KKK, look it up if you don't believe me) fake christian organizations that marries corrupt politics, big money lobby, and idiotic rednecks to build a strong coalition, and the ubber wealthy make up most of the republican base, why would anyone of any intelligence support this party, why would any person of color support such a party that has consistently worked against your best interest even before you had the right to vote.

My guess is because in the 70's the republican party abandoned its civil rights agendas in an attempt to grab the white majority vote of the south. With the south still a racist region of the country at the time, the African Americans had to turn their loyalties elsewhere. Contrary to republican lore, the democratic party does not keep the black man down. The democratic party, since inheriting the black vote does its best to try and bring equal rights to everyone. I personally feel that they have failed miserably at this endevour but non the less at least they try, unlike most Republicans, who would pref fer to let the poor and disenfranchised die off.

I dont think of any flesh presser think of they are "entitled" to all of us's vote. African individuals tend to vote for the democratic candidate, yet many vote republican, enormously people who positioned greater emphasis on abortion and gay rights (as many African individuals are religious and section with the republican camp on those themes). That reported, despite if maximum folk of a particular team vote a definite way there are continually many individuals who vote any incorrect way (or the third way!). i think of the African American community is a hotly contested team because of the fact they get out and vote.

Black people can not identify what the Rep. most of them are rich old white people. While most of the blacks are not doing that while. But why say black need welfare when there are far more white and Latino people on welfare then blacks. One might say that blacks are very church going people. And the rep. are Christan's. But they still don't identify with blacks. Right now the rep are trying to get to get the Mexican vote.

I would do some more research....that figure seems a bit high. African-Americans in rural communities tend to vote Republican (North or South)....it's the lifestyle.

Because the liberal dems promise the most government aid
such as food stamps, welfare, public housing etc. etc.
Liberal politicians are responsible for the destruction and failed integration of the black community in the USA.

Because they continually promise "subsidies" to blacks. The only thing it has accomplished is creating a permanent underclass of African Americans dependent on the government.
VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS
